  1. Job Description

    Workshop Controller is a person on the Shop Floor who coordinates with technical team members and Service Advisors to ensure quality of repair job in a Minimum possible time in order to achieve a CSI of Minimum of 98%

    Responsible for ensuring the work undertaken meets commitments made to customers in terms of quality, cost and timeliness by managing the team of technicians so that their technical and interpersonal skills contribute effectively to customer satisfaction. To manage available resources to optimize profitability.

    Key Responsibilities

    To ensure work performed meets the commitments made to the customer by the service advisor in terms of cost and timeliness.
    To check the quality of the work performed, providing advice and guidelines to the technicians as necessary to ensure quality standards are maintained.
    To ensure that all technicians identify and report to him extra work needed to maintain customers’ vehicle in proper condition.
    To monitor the level of technical expertise of each team member, ensuring the team possesses the skills needed to maintain standards of work and advise on training needs.
    To develop and maintain a cohesive team spirit, in order to enhance motivation, mutual co-operation and job satisfaction of all team members.
    To communicate all relevant information promptly to the service manager and maintain close and effective contact with the service advisors, so that the needs of customers are accurately understood by the technicians.
    To maximize productivity and efficiency and achieve a smooth flow of work through the department, by allocating each job to a technician with the appropriate skills.
    To ensure that the facilities, equipment and tools used by the service department are well maintained and in good working condition.
    To ensure that the team’s activities comply fully with all relevant legislation and regulations.
    To ensure personal appearance and conduct are at all times on lines with the companies’ requirement.

    Diagnosis and Training : To assist the Service Advisors and Team Members in trouble shooting of complicated jobs and train them on such jobs on a continuous basis.
    Supervision of Major Overhauling Jobs : To guide the Team Members during the overhauling of Sub-Assemblies like Engine Transmission etc.
    Implementation of processes : To ensure that the process guidelines are followed in daily activities and to suggest any changes for further fine tuning / simplification of the processes based on practical requirements.
    Allotment of Jobs : To allot the jobs as per the ability and team capability of Team Leaders.
    Supervision of Jobs : To maintain TML repair standards during actual work and train the Team Leaders / Team Members on a continuous basis.
    Parts Procurement : To ensure that proper control is exercised over replacement of parts in vehicles. In case Parts are not available, he has to ensure that the details are entered in the PNA register with expected date of arrival. In case the car is delivered without replacing the part, the service advisor should be informed to contact the customer of the arrival of the part.
    Warranty Decisions : To take decisions on warranty jobs and to authorise the same.
    Coordinate with Front Office : To continuously update the Front Office on Job Status, Additional Jobs, cost overshoots, etc., and assist the Service Admin personnel in closing Job Cards in a proper fashion (Job requests Vs Jobs done). He will also keep the Service Advisors updated on the load in the workshop so that they can plan their commitment to customers accordingly. He also has to update the status board of the workshop displayed in the Front Office.
    Technical Reporting : To report product problems to TML for product improvement and seek technical assistance from TML in case of complicated problems.
    Equipment Maintenance : To ensure through preventive maintenance measures are undertaken properly and ensure that all equipment is working properly. He also has to arrange for immediate repairs of any equipment that breaks down or malfunctions.
    Daily Reports to Service Manager : To generate, Analyze and submit the performance reports like Repeat Jobs, Productivity, Efficiency and Profitability of Team Members.
    Any other Responsibilities as entrusted by the management from time to time.

    Education: Diploma in Automobile/B.Tech

    Minimum experience - 6 years
    Maximum experience - 10 years
