Job Description

Cypress Semiconductor Corporation is looking for an Engineer / Patent Agent, or Patent Attorney.

The position requires the candidate to write U.S. and/or international patent applications, and oversee patent prosecution activities of outside counsel for several business units within Cypress.
The candidate will be responsible for reviewing patent applications, office action responses, and appeal briefs drafted by outside counsel. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for working with the outside counsel to ensure that the patent prosecution activities are carried out in a timely manner, within budget, and according to the business objectives of Cypress.
The candidate will also be responsible for promoting patent disclosures by Cypress engineers, participating in invention disclosure meetings, evaluating patentability of innovations, performing prior art searches, performing analysis of patents and products, and working with both outside and inside counsel on various patent issues.
The candidate should have an Electrical Engineering degree, and 3-5 years of experience as a practicing engineer.
The candidate should have some familiarity with patents.
The position requires a patent agent certification by the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
Strong candidates who are not already certified patent agents may be sponsored by the Company to travel to the United States to prepare for and pass the patent agent's exam.
All candidates will be expected to travel to the United States for 2-3 months at the start of the position for training.
